Look for dark green fallen logs on the route from Aunty toward Bufo. The published collection route identifies logs at a bend and near the campfire, with more along the same corridor. Bring the starting Sandstone Axe, leave room in the bag, break a harvestable log and collect the pieces. Confirm the inventory item is Oak Wood before continuing. The two prerequisites are separate: own and equip the first axe, and have access to the route beyond Aunty. If the bridge or story passage is still blocked, follow the active Aunty or Owl objective; a stronger axe is not a substitute for opening the route. Which axe to bring, and how to test the target

The oak collection guide says the first axe is sufficient for these fallen logs. You do not need to finish the later Granite or Flint axe progression just to gather this wood. If a swing does not affect the object, check the equipped tool, stand close enough to the log and try another clearly harvestable log on the route. A large background tree is not the same target as a fallen resource log. The useful confirmation is the log breaking into collectible material, followed by Oak Wood appearing in the bag; reaching a green-looking object alone does not confirm the source.

  • Check that an axe, rather than a pickaxe or shovel, is selected.

What Winter Burrow oak wood is actually spent on

Winter Burrow oak wood has three jobs, and knowing which one you are gathering for tells you how much to carry home. First, planks. An Oak Plank costs 2 Oak Wood, and the recipe unlocks after you place the simple bed. Every large furniture piece eats planks, so the plank step is where oak demand really begins. Second, tools. Do not use one shared Granite-tool recipe: the tools have different unlock states and published sources conflict on some quantities. The verified Granite Pickaxe recipe from Bufo's An Axe for Bufo step uses 1 Oak Wood, 1 Pinewood, 1 Granite and 1 Wool Yarn. The Granite Shovel also uses Oak Wood, Pine Wood, Granite and Wool Yarn, but available sources disagree on quantities, so check the live workbench card before gathering a numbered batch. Third, furniture, which is by far the largest sink. The Planter Box also wants oak: 2 Granite, 4 Oak Plank, 4 Beech Plank and 5 Flax Fibre, unlocked from Aunty after the healing tea.

  • Oak Table: 4 Oak Wood, 4 Oak Plank, 4 Flax Yarn.
  • Oak Desk: 4 Oak Wood, 4 Oak Plank.
  • Oak Armchair: 4 Oak Wood, 2 Oak Plank, 6 Flax Yarn, 1 Silk Yarn.
  • Oak Desk Stool: 4 Oak Wood, 1 Oak Plank, 2 Wool Yarn.
  • Oak Side Table: 4 Oak Wood, 2 Oak Plank, 2 Flax Yarn.

Plan one gathering trip and verify the haul

Choose the recipe you are supplying before leaving home, then check how much Oak Wood and how many Oak Planks are already in storage. Raw wood and finished planks are different ingredients; count both before deciding what to bring back. Leave free bag space for the wood and enough food for a return trip. Use the route landmarks above and a shelter you have actually confirmed is accessible. A campfire marker alone does not prove it is lit. Break and collect one log, check the inventory count, and return once the current recipe has enough material. You can make a second trip for another project without assuming that previously cleared logs will have regenerated. Published Granite-tool recipe quantities disagree, so do not copy one recipe across the axe, pickaxe and shovel.
