How to Access the Demo

The Winter Burrow demo is available for free on Steam. Search "Winter Burrow" on the Steam store, scroll to the demo section, and click "Download Demo." No purchase required—just a Steam account.

  • Available on: Steam (PC, Mac, Linux).
  • File size: ~500MB (smaller than full game).
  • Separate download from full game—does not require owning the game.
  • Demo saves do NOT transfer to full version (separate save system).
Install demo to test performance on your system before buying.Demo has same refund policy as full games if downloaded from Steam.

Demo Content & Features

The demo includes the first 2 in-game days (roughly 2-3 real hours of gameplay). You can explore Gnarled Oaks, repair the armchair, knit basic clothing, cook simple recipes, and experience the full warmth/hunger survival loop.

  • Playable area: Gnarled Oaks and burrow interior.
  • Craftable items: Wool Sweater, Simple Cap, Berry Pie, Hot Tea.
  • Repairable rooms: Armchair (knitting) only.
  • Full tutorial and UI walkthrough included.

Demo Limit

Demo ends after 2 in-game days or when you reach the armchair repair milestone—whichever comes first.

Section 03

Trial Limitations & Restrictions

Demo restricts content to the early game to showcase mechanics without spoiling mid/late-game progression. Some areas, recipes, and burrow rooms are locked. Time-limited to prevent full playthroughs.

  • Locked areas: Shadow Pines, Frozen Lake, Ancient Ruins, Rocky Outcrops.
  • Locked recipes: Advanced pies, stews with mushrooms, herbal brews.
  • Locked crafts: Tier 2+ clothing, tool upgrades.
  • No achievements or trading card drops during demo play.

Maximizing Your Demo Time

Focus on learning survival fundamentals during the demo. Test different clothing combinations, practice expedition timing, and experiment with food vs drink priorities. Use the demo to validate if the gameplay loop appeals to you.

  • Priority 1: Repair armchair and craft Wool Sweater ASAP.
  • Priority 2: Test expedition to Gnarled Oaks with different loadouts.
  • Priority 3: Cook at least one Berry Pie and brew one Hot Tea.
  • Experiment with weather settings to feel survival difficulty.
